Visionary Filmmaker Zach Cregger returns to Cinemas Soon with a Thrilling and Terrifying reinvention of the Resident Evil franchise

The Killer Spotlight are pleased to present the teaser trailer and first look photos for Zach Cregger’s eerie new take on the Resident Evil franchise.

While this new film appears to be telling an original story rather than directly adapting the games, that works for us. But judging by Cregger’s command of tone in Barbarian and Weapons, this franchise feels like it may be in very good hands.

Resident Evil is coming soon to cinemas.

Mortal Kombat II European Fan Event: Cast Talk Brutal Training, Martial Arts Legacy, Kitana and Jade’s Relationship, and Shao Kahn’s Arrival

    IT’S SHOWTIME!

The Killer Spotlight, in partnership with The Fan Carpet, attended last night’s European Fan Event in London for Mortal Kombat II, where the cast took to the stage to discuss the physical demands, legacy, and emotional depth behind the highly anticipated sequel.

    Film Synopsis

From the brutal world of Outworld to the defenders of Earthrealm, Mortal Kombat II continues the high-stakes battle for survival as new champions rise and familiar warriors return. As the threat of Shao Kahn looms larger than ever, alliances are tested and the fate of Earthrealm hangs in the balance in a fight that promises to be bigger, bolder, and more intense than before.

    Honouring Martial Arts Legacy

Lewis Tan spoke passionately about the importance of keeping martial arts alive on screen “Performing martial arts on the big screen is kind of a dying art form. My father was doing it before me, and before him we had legends like Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen — the list goes on. But we need more.” He added “It’s an honour to perform martial arts on the big screen like this… thank you guys, we appreciate it.”

The Physical Demands of Becoming Jax

Mehcad Brooks (Jax) broke down the intense preparation required for the role “I trained for months. I gained 30 pounds for the role… and I was eating around 11,000 calories a day.”

He explained “These scenes might be five or six minutes, but they take a week—sometimes ten days—to shoot. We rehearse for weeks, sometimes a month or more.” and added “It was crazy… but that’s why it looks that good.”

Jade and Kitana: A Layered Relationship

Tati Gabrielle discussed stepping into the role of Jade: “Jade goes through quite the arc. I spent a lot of time thinking about who she is in our world and approaching her with empathy.”

She also highlighted her off-screen friendship with Adeline Rudolph, which helped shape Jade and Kitana’s close dynamic. Their chemistry is further strengthened by their previous collaboration in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, where they appeared together as members of the Weird Sisters — Prudence Night and Agatha Night. “We already had so much trust and love — I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

    Taking on an Icon: Kitana

For Adeline Rudolph, stepping into one of the franchise’s most beloved roles came with both excitement and pressure “I am equally terrified and excited. I poured my heart and soul into her.” and added “I hope fans feel that nostalgia… and new audiences can connect with her journey.”

    Shao Kahn Brings the Presence

Closing out the panel, Martyn Ford teased what fans can expect “Devilish good looks… style… and the way he lets the hammer do the talking.”

    Final Thoughts

From brutal training regimens to emotionally layered character work, Mortal Kombat II is shaping up to deliver both spectacle and substance. With its expanding roster, the evolving team dynamic begins to echo the classic ensemble seen in Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, bringing a more unified “Earthrealm defenders” feel to the franchise.

With a cast clearly invested in honouring the legacy while pushing it forward, last night’s European Fan Event made one thing clear — this is a sequel that means business.
